Our Projects

White Ribbon USA brings people together across public service, sport, the arts, and civic life to speak out against domestic violence. These collaborations have taken the campaign into veteransโ€™ communities, public events, and conversations with lawmakers.

White Ribbon VA

White Ribbon USA announced its collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 2020. Working alongside the National Association of Social Workers, the White Ribbon VA campaign aimed to promote safer, more welcoming VA facilities and communities by asking people to take a stand against sexual harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

The campaign framed a personal pledge as everyday action: respect personal space, recognize unwelcome comments and contact, speak up about harmful behavior, and lead by example. It also asked participants to be mindful of experiences and injuries that may not be visible and to invite others to take the pledge.

Athletes speaking out

Soccer and White Ribbon

Soccer player Andrey Shevchenko, whose career included AC Milan and Chelsea, participated in White Ribbonโ€™s 2018 awareness campaign. The campaign used the visibility of sport to encourage people to speak out against domestic violence.

Boxing and White Ribbon

A 2019 campaign brought professional boxers into White Ribbonโ€™s annual awareness activities. Their participation helped carry the message against violence toward women and girls to sporting audiences.

Design with a public purpose

ARTRAMUS

White Ribbon collaborated with ARTRAMUS, the fashion brand founded by Tetyana Ramus, on awareness T-shirts in 2019. The designs carried the campaign messages #stopviolence and #wearewhiteribbon.

The collaboration supported International Child Protection Day and the U.S. Embassyโ€™s White Ribbon campaign, bringing the message into clothing people could wear and share.

CALA VELA and the White Ribbon Bag

White Ribbon and New York brand CALA VELA launched the White Ribbon Bag in September 2019. Founded by designer Clara Yoo, CALA VELA joined the campaign with a collaboration that connected fashion with opposition to domestic violence.

The launch took place at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York. Yooโ€™s design background included roles at Cole Haan, Victoriaโ€™s Secret, and LeSportsac; her work on the bag brought that experience to a project supporting womenโ€™s empowerment.

Seventh House

Seventh House served as White Ribbonโ€™s New York representative. The agencyโ€™s work in public relations, marketing, and event planning connected the campaign with creative communities across fashion, art, music, entertainment, and media.

Events, storytelling, and advocacy

Rich City Talks: domestic violence, trauma, and housing

Veronika Mudra joined Rich City Talks at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles in December 2019. Ashley Barker of Welcome the Agency invited her to speak as part of a three-day exhibition and event addressing homelessness.

The panel, โ€œThe Real Impact of Domestic Violence & Trauma,โ€ explored the connections between abuse, trauma, and housing instability. Participants included Dr. Aaron Celious, founder of Maroon Society; Brit Gilmore, former president of The Giving Keys; poet and advocate Suzette Shaw; and Miranda Fang, whose work included nonprofit consulting through Step Up LA.

The event also recognized the contributions of Ashley Barker, Shaun Michel, Daniel Dart, and Miranda Fang.

Recognizing storytelling that supports women

White Ribbon USA, 7000 Magazine, and 7000 Art Company presented a philanthropy prize to film director Eva Dolezhalova in Paris in September 2019. The recognition highlighted womenโ€™s empowerment and opposition to violence and discrimination.

Participants pictured in the project materials include White Ribbonโ€™s Veronika Mudra, ARTRAMUS founder Tetyana Ramus, and 7000 Magazine founder Jean-Baptiste Pauchard.

The project materials document a White Ribbon reception with Ukraineโ€™s First Lady Olena Zelenska and U.S. diplomat William Taylor, as well as Mudraโ€™s participation in White Ribbon Day at America House. White Ribbon USA served as an advisory partner to the U.S. Embassyโ€™s campaign in Ukraine.
